With the Overseas Foreign Workers remittances amounting to $17.3 Billion in 2009 despite the global economy slow down. This is a good news to all of you hardworking Filipino OFW’s.

“The remittances of all OFWs, upon showing the same proof of entitlement by the OFW beneficiary or recipient, shall be exempted from the payment of documentary stamp tax,’’ Section 22 of Republic Act 10022, stated.
Former labor undersecretary and now Nacionalista Party (NP) senatorial bet Susan Ople immediately urged the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) and the Department of Finance (DoF) to immediately issue the new law’s implementing guidelines. Read more

We always receive emails from fellow Filipinos asking where is the best place to go in Thailand on a budget? How to get there safely and cheap. So far this is the latest advisory we have taken from the Department of Foreign Affairs website.
8 April 2010 – In view of the declaration of a state of emergency in Bangkok, Thailand on April 7, and the reported plans of demonstrators to intensify protests, Filipinos are advised to postpone all non-essential travel to Thailand, particularly to Bangkok.
Filipinos who are already in Thailand are advised to avoid areas that have been identified as meeting areas and staging areas for the rallyists. END
